What we do all day...

Rett and I have made it through the first full week of Kraig being at school.  It's been pretty uneventful. We have been on a really good schedule and Rett has slept through the night this week so that's a positive.  We don't do much during the day.  Just clean, laundry, all the housewife-y things, I guess.  I watch Rett a lot and we talk a lot.  And snuggle.  He's a great snuggler.  I find it hard to put him down sometimes because I don't want to loose this time with him.  I am excited to hear his first laugh though. Kraig and I play at night with him and try to get a laugh but still no luck, just lots of cooing and sweet sighs.  He's precious.  We still can't believe we have a kid sometimes.  It's still so surreal.  We love him so much and love to watch him grow.  Although, I wish he would stay little...

This week was also another first for me.  Kraig went off to work...I didn't.  The first time in a little over 10 years, I didn't go to work.  I would like to say that I was happy about not going but as I have had all week to watch my friends and Kraig go to work, it's been harder than I thought.  Don't get me wrong, I love being at home but it's just going to be an adjustment.  My new job is to stay at home and I have decided to not take it lightly.

My new job is to be home.  So, I need to fill my days.  This has been hard too.  I struggle with what to do and not being lazy or feeling lazy while others are off working and doing things.  I feel like I just sit at home all day staring at Rett.  :)  He's handsome by the way.  But he is starting to be awake for more hours during the day so we are starting to play, read and do some exercises.  It's been fun.  But I also want to be intentional about my days.  I have started cooking...I have many burns to vouch for that.  :(  Mom says I'll get better hahaha We will see, so far...I haven't made anything Kraig won't eat.  I can't figure out homemade chocolate chip cookies yet but good grief, I will master them.  4th times a charm, right?!  I'll try again next week.  I am attempting chocolate cobbler today.

Let's see what else...I exercise, clean and cook and make sure Rett is content all day.  Sounds fun :)  It is really...although I really struggled with not going to work this week, I have really enjoyed being home.  It's been a complete change of pace and but I think I will really like especially as Rett gets bigger and we can do more things.  I know I won't regret this decision and I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed us in order for me to stay home.  The few times I have left Rett for a few hours were a tad harder than I expected.  It was fine but I didn't like leaving knowing I might miss something, even something as simple as a smile.  I love his smiles.  They are so sweet.  :)

I have a lot of projects that need to get done and if I worked they for sure would never get done...so now I have time to finish Rett's room, do crafty things, organize our home...and figure out this mommy thing.  I look forward to days ahead.  I am excited about this journey before us and I look forward to how things pan out.

I'll let you know how the cobbler turns out.  I made laundry detergent and fabric softener last week.  That was fun.  I have made a date jar for Kraig and me.  I made "52 reasons why I love you" cards for Kraig.  I have to paint Rett's changing table.  I have some other things to accomplish in the next weeks so I'll let you know how they go, maybe take pics for y'all.  :)

Hope you all have a great day at work.  I'm having fun with Rett :)

Update...Birthdays, MaryKay and thrift finds

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!  It was a great day.  My grandmother came for a visit.  She brought beautiful flowers and some other nice gifts.  Kraig also got me wonderful flowers and box of Gobstoppers.  :)  He still knows the way to my heart ~ a box of Gobstoppers.  He also has set me up with a massage later.  :)  I am real excited about that.  And dinner this weekend, I think.  I don't know but I know he spoils me :)  I love him.  I'm so thankful for all the phone calls and messages yesterday.  It was a truly great day....thanks and this has been the best blessing/birthday gift ever :) Here's my little guy just relaxing.  Rett getting to meet his new buddy, Truett.  Kelly and Julie welcomed their little bundle of joy last Friday evening.  They are going to be close buds, we can tell already.  :) I can't wait to get my hands on this little guy and snuggle him. ...

goodness...will it ever stop?!

Without further adieu.... Kraig and I have been called to a little church out in the valley to serve as youth pastor (and wifey). What a drastic change this will be!?! But a blessing that I never saw coming :) Kraig has been struggling off and on for about a year now about youth ministry and his (our) role with youth. He knew he loved teaching at OCA and we both loved serving the youth at Oakwood. Kraig just wasn't sure if there was more to his struggle than just teaching and just serving at the capacity that we were in. So, with lots of prayer and searching the scripture, Kraig knew that we were supposed to do something more. Well, that was that. We didn't pursue anything, we had a lot going on at our church and we were just getting into the swing of things and really enjoying our youth. About January...I guess... L O N G S T O R Y short ....Kraig got a call from a pastor that I have known probably as long as I have been in the Chickamauga area...and Kraig met thr...

Funeral, house, and thoughts

Now that I have had a few days to re coop and process the last few weeks and months...I can share some of the thoughts that have crossed my mind in the midst of it all and some of the lessons that I learned from family and Gran the past few weeks. I love my family.  All of them.  My Gran had 8 kids, they had 21 grand kids and now we are working on 20 great grand kids (I hope my numbers are right).  We have a huge family.  We are all different, come from different walks of life now but as my Aunt Dodie said at the funeral, Gran has taught us to love each other and not let strife come between us.  I think we do a pretty good job of loving each other.  I loved getting to sit with my aunts and uncles many nights that we were at Gran's and listen to stories of their childhoods and about their parents.  It was a great time.  We had a very unique few weeks especially leading up to my Gran's death.  Not many people can say that they got to say goo...
