What are you doing?

Growing up, I never had a plan.  I guess I had the mind set that we aren't guaranteed tomorrow.  Which I still kind of live by this thought however - I try to plan a little bit more.

While a lot of my friends knew what they wanted to be when they grew up, I had no idea.

They knew the colors of their weddings and the flowers and where to place them, I didn't even know if I would get married.

They had their kids names picked out and how many they would have.  I didn't want a kid.

I did know that I wanted to see the world.  That was the extent of my plans.  I didn't know how I would do this but I knew I wanted to see the Sistine Chapel, Rome, where Jesus walked and lived, and every state in the U.S. of A.

I have enjoyed seeing my friend's plans come full circle.  They are having the weddings of their dreams and having their kids, white picket fences and 2 car garages.  I love it.  :)

WOW!!!  Have things in my life changed.  I have seen a lot of states in the USA.  I have visited many places and met many new people.  It has been an amazing adventure.  I haven't seen near as much as I want but I hope to continue to travel and fill my travel void, slowly but surely.  I got married.  I also had a kid.  I settled down.

Yesterday, our pastor posed the question/challenge, "What are you doing for Jesus?"

So, although my life hasn't gone the way I had exactly planned, it has gone exactly the way the Lord has planned.  Now, my job has changed.  I still long to see the Pyramids and travel the world, but now I long to take Rett and Kraig with me.

I still question what I am supposed to be doing with this life the Lord has given me but in all reality I know what He wants:

TO LOVE OTHERS.

That is what I hope to do.  Whether that be here in good ole' Chickamauga, GA or in Alaska or China.

I have a job to love my family, share Jesus and love on my kids at church.  I hope I can do that and I know I can with His help.

And now, I will aspire to do those things with my 2 car garage, my husband and my light of my life - Rett.  I now realize once again that the Lord has better plans for me and I look forward to the next plan He has for me.

Update...Birthdays, MaryKay and thrift finds

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!  It was a great day.  My grandmother came for a visit.  She brought beautiful flowers and some other nice gifts.  Kraig also got me wonderful flowers and box of Gobstoppers.  :)  He still knows the way to my heart ~ a box of Gobstoppers.  He also has set me up with a massage later.  :)  I am real excited about that.  And dinner this weekend, I think.  I don't know but I know he spoils me :)  I love him.  I'm so thankful for all the phone calls and messages yesterday.  It was a truly great day....thanks and this has been the best blessing/birthday gift ever :) Here's my little guy just relaxing.  Rett getting to meet his new buddy, Truett.  Kelly and Julie welcomed their little bundle of joy last Friday evening.  They are going to be close buds, we can tell already.  :) I can't wait to get my hands on this little guy and snuggle him. ...

goodness...will it ever stop?!

Without further adieu.... Kraig and I have been called to a little church out in the valley to serve as youth pastor (and wifey). What a drastic change this will be!?! But a blessing that I never saw coming :) Kraig has been struggling off and on for about a year now about youth ministry and his (our) role with youth. He knew he loved teaching at OCA and we both loved serving the youth at Oakwood. Kraig just wasn't sure if there was more to his struggle than just teaching and just serving at the capacity that we were in. So, with lots of prayer and searching the scripture, Kraig knew that we were supposed to do something more. Well, that was that. We didn't pursue anything, we had a lot going on at our church and we were just getting into the swing of things and really enjoying our youth. About January...I guess... L O N G S T O R Y short ....Kraig got a call from a pastor that I have known probably as long as I have been in the Chickamauga area...and Kraig met thr...

Funeral, house, and thoughts

Now that I have had a few days to re coop and process the last few weeks and months...I can share some of the thoughts that have crossed my mind in the midst of it all and some of the lessons that I learned from family and Gran the past few weeks. I love my family.  All of them.  My Gran had 8 kids, they had 21 grand kids and now we are working on 20 great grand kids (I hope my numbers are right).  We have a huge family.  We are all different, come from different walks of life now but as my Aunt Dodie said at the funeral, Gran has taught us to love each other and not let strife come between us.  I think we do a pretty good job of loving each other.  I loved getting to sit with my aunts and uncles many nights that we were at Gran's and listen to stories of their childhoods and about their parents.  It was a great time.  We had a very unique few weeks especially leading up to my Gran's death.  Not many people can say that they got to say goo...
