We have colds!

Well, I was so hoping to make it through this holiday season without so much as a sniffle. We aren't so lucky. The weather went from warm to cold in 2.9 seconds and I was sick. Then, I got better and now Rett is sick.  And Rett isn't getting better.  We are supposed to leave to go to PA on Thursday...let's all lay hands on him and pray this cold away! We have the vaporizer going non-stop, we have done the Vicks on the feet, we suction boogers continually and keep fluids down.  We gave him a nice hot bath last night and have found a nice homeopathic medicine at Earthfare and it's working just not as fast as I want.  He slept really well last night but today he's been miserable. But through all of this, he has found his hands and is very interested in them.  It is so funny to watch him look at them and make sure they are doing what he wants. Well, time to go do some more snuggling and praying this cold away! If you think about us, pray for the little guy

decisions....

I hate to make decisions. I hate them.  I hate to be confronted with them.  I hate to think about them.  I hate to be faced with them.   I dread making them .  I often leave them to Kraig to make because of how much I hate them.  Our first house was never really decorated because I hated  deciding where to put things.  It was sad really, looking back I feel horrible because Kraig wanted a homey place and I was to indecisive to put things places so it just was a jumbled up mess...our house today - is sometimes like that, however...I have a junk room and a garage for all that mess now.  So, when I can't decide on something it goes to that junk room or garage.   The stupid thing is though ~ we are faced with them daily.  From picking out what we wear to big decisions like buying a car or saying "YES" to our love.  It's a wonder I was able to ever say "YES" to Kraig :)  I love him and I'm so glad I could decide to say "YES" to him.

Get your 10 Christmas Cards - FREE

It's today only so go there now and get your 10 cards for free :) We went to the doctor yesterday for Rett's 4 month check up.  He weighs in a little over 15lbs and is almost 26 inches long.  He is growing great and the doctor isn't concerned with anything :)  Good news. He also got 2 shots yesterday.  Took them like a champ.  He cried for a few seconds but then he was done and ended up having a great day.  I talked to the doc about his sleeping patterns though because I have read that he should be able to sleep through the night....hmmm well Rett is very restless and so I was concerned about that.  Well, last night we made it through the night.  He cried for about 20 or so minutes to start but he finally fell asleep about 10 and instead of nursing him to sleep again around 3 or 4 w

Happy November

It's November.  YAY!  Another favorite month of mine. I have tucked away the Halloween bowls and such already this morning and trying to make my home a little more Thanksgiving looking.  I don't know how far I will get. Rett is teething.  He was sleeping pretty good through the night but here recently - he's not...and I just thought I was going to get on a regular sleep schedule.  I'm not and I doubt I ever will again.  I am anxious to get that first tooth in.  So far, he hasn't had horrible nights just restless nights but they are coming. He has rolled over once.  Didn't like it so he didn't try it again. He can grab and hold things and then stick them in his mouth.  He chews or drools on everything.  He loves to smile and is a tad bit ticklish.  He doesn't laugh often because we haven't found that one thing that really gets him going but they are precious laughs when he gets started.  He loves to talk and loves to move.  He fights sleep and

Taking advantage of this one

Thanks Cindy Cook for this awesome snag... I am starting to get in the toy finding mode because Rett is starting to get curious and wanting to hold things and play!  Such a fun time :)  I love it... So, I have been on the lookout for ABC's and numbers for the fridge and Cindy Cook came across this snag amazon.com You can get the numbers for just  $1.90  and the letters for  $2.98 I'm so excited about this deal.   But I'm more excited because I get them for free.  I use  Swagbucks   It is an online search engine but you gain swagbuck when you search.  So, the more you use it, the more swagbucks you can earn.  I got it mainly because I got a kindle a few years ago and I'm a cheap skate and didn't want to buy books online all the time and since the Kindle is linked with amazon, I thought swagbucks would be a good idea. So, here's how it works...once you gain enough swagbucks, you can purchase things.  I have only ever gotten amazon gift

Update...Birthdays, MaryKay and thrift finds

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!  It was a great day.  My grandmother came for a visit.  She brought beautiful flowers and some other nice gifts.  Kraig also got me wonderful flowers and box of Gobstoppers.  :)  He still knows the way to my heart ~ a box of Gobstoppers.  He also has set me up with a massage later.  :)  I am real excited about that.  And dinner this weekend, I think.  I don't know but I know he spoils me :)  I love him.  I'm so thankful for all the phone calls and messages yesterday.  It was a truly great day....thanks and this has been the best blessing/birthday gift ever :) Here's my little guy just relaxing.  Rett getting to meet his new buddy, Truett.  Kelly and Julie welcomed their little bundle of joy last Friday evening.  They are going to be close buds, we can tell already.  :) I can't wait to get my hands on this little guy and snuggle him.   Rett has become the little talker.  He just talks my ear off most of t

Your new Mary Kay representative

After much prayer and fighting with the Lord, I have decided to sell Mary Kay. I hate sales, I hate confronting people to buy things, I am not comfortable with make - up so I don't wear it.... So, I decided to sell it. At first, it was a way to stay busy during the 3 or 4 hour long naps that Rett takes during the day but the more I fought the Lord over it, He started to give me a new direction with it. The Lord has blessed us in that I don't have to work and we are still able to pay our bills and even get ahead on paying off our school loans so although the extra income will be nice, it wasn't the main reason for me to get into it. The main reason, I'm not good at filling up my day and I felt useless.  Kraig and the Lord (of course) constantly told me I haven't been useless - I mean, I get to take care of Rett all day...which is great however I can only clean the house so many times and I'm not an extremely crafty person so I just felt like I needed to

I love the beach, crafts and MaryKay

Rett does not. Actually, he loved the sand and had a blast exfoliating his feet but once we got near the water - he didn't want anything to do with that.  I'm sure it had to do with when Kraig put him near the water, a huge wave came in and got both of them...oopps!  But he didn't even like to put his feet in the water.  I sure hope that changes because I LOVE THE BEACH. But never the less, it was a relaxing trip.  I was really nervous about the drive because Rett is not an easy passenger but he did really well and I was overall pleased with the ride.  He had fun jumping on the hotel bed, sitting in the sand and walking the boardwalk AND shopping of course....what's vacation without shopping :) We got to see Grammy and Charlie while on this trip.  We were really excited to visit with them and introduce them to Rett.  It was a great trip. Last weekend, we went on a family trip to the lake.  It was wonderful and even more relaxing!  The boys played golf and the gi

Let's get crafty!!

First off ~ Rett had a great time at his first Lookouts game with the youth.  He watched the whole game and then once we left slept the whole way home.  We have had a great time getting to know our Lookout BC family and kids.  They are a ton of fun and have accepted us, we are so thankful for them in our lives and we are excited to see where the next few years take us.  We pray that the Lord will continue to grow our relationships with them and that these kids will fall more in love with the Lord than ever before.  We look forward to watching them grow in Christ.  Exciting times ahead! I have plenty of projects to keep me busy the next few days/weeks.  None include working on the house but just decorating and adding spruce to it.  We have a tree that fell in the spring and still need to get that cleaned up.  We have to install our microwave and put in a breakfast bar...what else...I want to redo our bedroom and spare room so just lots of projects but I'm going to g

What we do all day...

Rett and I have made it through the first full week of Kraig being at school.  It's been pretty uneventful. We have been on a really good schedule and Rett has slept through the night this week so that's a positive.  We don't do much during the day.  Just clean, laundry, all the housewife-y things, I guess.  I watch Rett a lot and we talk a lot.  And snuggle.  He's a great snuggler.  I find it hard to put him down sometimes because I don't want to loose this time with him.  I am excited to hear his first laugh though. Kraig and I play at night with him and try to get a laugh but still no luck, just lots of cooing and sweet sighs.  He's precious.  We still can't believe we have a kid sometimes.  It's still so surreal.  We love him so much and love to watch him grow.  Although, I wish he would stay little... This week was also another first for me.  Kraig went off to work...I didn't.  The first time in a little over 10 years, I didn't go to work.

and now August is almost gone!

Shooo...where is the time going?  I am not doing well with keeping up with this like I had hoped.  Sorry, folks. Well, for August...all our visitors left ~ sad day.  :(  We had a blast with Kraig's parents, brother and Bobby.  We showed them around Chattanooga and just had a great time visiting.  The especially loved spoiling Rett.  I know he misses them all already. Kraig did the Chattanooga Mud Run which he says was a blast.  I look forward to hopefully participating in it next year with him.  They finished in about 40 minutes.  I was quite proud of them. Rett has grown an inch and gained almost 2 pounds since birth.  He's a little chunky guy :)  He can no longer fit in his newborn clothes.  That is extremely sad.  But before long, he will be talking and crawling so I look forward to that. Kraig started school.  He is teaching Bible and History this year and looks forward to it.  He is very busy already but doing well and having fun. So, my new goals for staying at
