We have colds!

Well, I was so hoping to make it through this holiday season without so much as a sniffle.

We aren't so lucky.

The weather went from warm to cold in 2.9 seconds and I was sick.

Then, I got better and now Rett is sick.  And Rett isn't getting better.  We are supposed to leave to go to PA on Thursday...let's all lay hands on him and pray this cold away!

We have the vaporizer going non-stop, we have done the Vicks on the feet, we suction boogers continually and keep fluids down.  We gave him a nice hot bath last night and have found a nice homeopathic medicine at Earthfare and it's working just not as fast as I want.  He slept really well last night but today he's been miserable.

But through all of this, he has found his hands and is very interested in them.  It is so funny to watch him look at them and make sure they are doing what he wants.

Well, time to go do some more snuggling and praying this cold away!

If you think about us, pray for the little guy.  He's pitiful but still happy at the time.  He's such a blessing.

Merry Christmas!  We hope to be in a Winter Wonderland for the Holidays!  We will post pics if we have one :)

On the 6th Day of Mary Kay, my true love gave to me...

time to slow down....

Today, I sit holding my 5 month old baby boy (for the last 2 hours) while he naps.  And guess what...I would not want it any other way.  We have run errands this morning, dropped off Mary Kay products and I guess I wore the little guy out because once we got home, he ate and fell right to sleep before I could (or really wanted) move him.

I hate to make decisions.

I hate them.  I hate to be confronted with them.  I hate to think about them.  I hate to be faced with them.  I dread making them.  I often leave them to Kraig to make because of how much I hate them.  Our first house was never really decorated because I hated deciding where to put things.  It was sad really, looking back I feel horrible because Kraig wanted a homey place and I was to indecisive to put things places so it just was a jumbled up mess...our house today - is sometimes like that, however...I have a junk room and a garage for all that mess now.  So, when I can't decide on something it goes to that junk room or garage.

The stupid thing is though ~ we are faced with them daily.  From picking out what we wear to big decisions like buying a car or saying "YES" to our love.  It's a wonder I was able to ever say "YES" to Kraig :)  I love him and I'm so glad I could decide to say "YES" to him.

This last year though, it seems like it has been a whirlwind of decisions for us.  I think I am just now processing and coping with some of them.  I'm not sure that's good or bad.  However...this time last year, Kraig and I were getting ready for Thanksgiving break.  He was going to spend the week with his family, I had not been feeling well for a few weeks so I decided to stay home and keep the dogs (and rest).  Well, I decided in order to stay occupied over the break,I would decorate the house for Christmas ~ again, big step because I hate to decorate let alone decorate for a specific I put up a Christmas tree and even went Black Friday shopping.  Which was loads of fun and I will participate again this year :)

Well, on Friday, I was feeling exceptionally sick and Kraig finally said, "Ashleigh, you need to make an appointment and go see the doctor.  Something's up and we need to figure it out."  Well, to make a long story short...a few months prior, Kraig and I made some other big decisions about kids and basically, we decided much to my protests ~ we were just going to let the Lord make our plans for, on this particular day that I felt so sick...after being scolded for not calling the doctor sooner, Kraig also so wisely asked me to take a pregnancy test. let the whirlwind of a year start!  I was pregnant.  That's what was wrong with me.  I really felt stupid for not even thinking that could be what was wrong but it was the farthest thing from my mind.

Well, over the next few weeks....the decisions started.  We decided we weren't going to tell people until I was out of my first after Christmas.  We decided to buy a house.  We had to decide on what house and where we wanted to live.  We decided that I was going to stay at home.  We decided we would leave the only church I had ever known and go to another church as youth leaders.  We had to decide on a pediatrician.  We decided to sell Kraig's (beloved) truck.  We had a multitude of other decisions...some big, some minor.  We did a lot of these changes while I was pregnant.  Which was crazy and maybe some would say dumb on our parts but for some reason, it worked for us.

Now, I would like to say that most of these decisions were Spirit led...and probably on Kraig's part they were.  But I think I went into denial, depression...I'm not real sure at this point.  I do know though that I had a couple rough days/weeks.  It was a hard.  I had a pity party.  I didn't want to be pregnant.  I didn't want to move churches.  I didn't want to buy a house, let alone buy a house in the town I grew up in.  I didn't want to have to decide on carpet or wall colors...I just wanted things to stay the same.  Well, again...Kraig knew better and prayed a whole lot more than me and prayed FOR me, I'm positive of that, I'm so thankful for that.

Let's fast forward to the good times....well, now that we are settled into our new house.  With our beautiful, healthy baby boy with whom we are so in love.  At our wonderful, new church...I know we made the right decisions.  Although, I might be changing some wall colors soon :)

I was reminded at church this morning to think of others, so I need to make a change.  Yes, I had a rough few months...but I think I am on the uphill slope.  I am enjoying life and I am enjoying being a mom more than I ever thought I would.  I am enjoying figuring out how to decorate our house and make decisions on where to put things (granted, my sister helps a lot) but I am enjoying getting to know our new youth kids and our new church family.

So, with that said...I am going to leave you with the passage from this morning.  Thank you, Daniel for showing us that it is not about us...that we need to be mission minded and not "ME" minded.  Because regardless of those bad times, it is not about's about Christ and showing His love to others...and quite honestly during those times...I didn't feel His love so why should I have shared it with others but this is a great reminder and I hope I can keep this in mind when I come in contact with others and with my family.

Philippians 2:3-13

3 Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. 4 Don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing. 5 Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. 7 He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form. 8And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal's death on a cross. 9 Because of this, God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name that is above every other name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 12 Dearest friends, you were always so careful to follow my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away you must be even more careful to put into action God's saving work in your lives, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases him.

The Lord is so faithful and although I may still struggle with the decisions that will be made in the future...I know that we (I) can face them and most importantly I will keep in mind that it's not about me...if I focus on what the Lord wants, He will take care of the decisions for us...

But for the time being, I am going to not be selfish (at least, I am going to try).  I am going to invest in others.  I want to have the attitude Christ had.  I want to learn about others.  We shall see how this ends up....hopefully, no pity party for one...I hope those days have passed.

thanks for listening to my rant and change of heart...

Get your 10 Christmas Cards - FREE

I just did this....

I never do Christmas cards...but this year...10 lucky people will receive Christmas cards from us... has 10 holiday cards for free even shipping!

It's today only so go there now and get your 10 cards for free :)

We went to the doctor yesterday for Rett's 4 month check up.  He weighs in a little over 15lbs and is almost 26 inches long.  He is growing great and the doctor isn't concerned with anything :)  Good news.

He also got 2 shots yesterday.  Took them like a champ.  He cried for a few seconds but then he was done and ended up having a great day.  I talked to the doc about his sleeping patterns though because I have read that he should be able to sleep through the night....hmmm well Rett is very restless and so I was concerned about that.  Well, last night we made it through the night.  He cried for about 20 or so minutes to start but he finally fell asleep about 10 and instead of nursing him to sleep again around 3 or 4 when he wakes up - I just stuck the paci back in his mouth and he lasted until 6 am!  YAY!  Then, he finally woke up at 8 am and I would say it was a pretty successful first go at sleeping through the night. Hopefully, I am not jinxing it and he will continue to sleep better and we can move him from the Pac - N - Play and into his crib in his room.  :)

Mary Kay has proven to be lots of fun.  It has proven to be a great added bonus to my day and I have enjoyed running my own business.  I am having fun being girly with the make up and getting to meet new people.

I especially look forward to next week's party for Maddux.

We are doing a fundraiser for Maddux!  Maddux is the new baby boy to my sister's friend, Amber and Andrew Erwin.  Maddux was born over the summer and up until a couple of weeks ago had not been at home for more than a week.  He was at the hospital more than at home.  It was very sad but good things are looking up for him.  He is now home and things are going well.  I think all of his intestines and stomach muscles are working correctly or at least getting on track and I know they are very hopeful for good things to come.  I know we all are.  I am anxious to meet this little fighter and to see how the Lord continues to work in their lives.  So, next week...we are having a Mary Kay party for Maddux and proceeds go to help Amber and Andrew with medical bills.  I look forward to meeting Maddux and I can't wait to party with the ladies that care so much for the little guy.  I can't wait to hear their stories.

If you would like to purchase something this next week, proceeds will go toward their family.  Let me know if you would like to help out.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Happy November

It's November.  YAY!  Another favorite month of mine.

I have tucked away the Halloween bowls and such already this morning and trying to make my home a little more Thanksgiving looking.  I don't know how far I will get.

Rett is teething.  He was sleeping pretty good through the night but here recently - he's not...and I just thought I was going to get on a regular sleep schedule.  I'm not and I doubt I ever will again.  I am anxious to get that first tooth in.  So far, he hasn't had horrible nights just restless nights but they are coming.

He has rolled over once.  Didn't like it so he didn't try it again.

He can grab and hold things and then stick them in his mouth.  He chews or drools on everything.  He loves to smile and is a tad bit ticklish.  He doesn't laugh often because we haven't found that one thing that really gets him going but they are precious laughs when he gets started.  He loves to talk and loves to move.  He fights sleep and hates to nap.

He is better about tummy time and is trying really hard to crawl.  He just moves back and forth.  It's so fun to watch him try.

We finally got our tree chopped down and Kraig is excited to chop some wood and make fires.

We got our microwave installed.  After 4 months....

It all takes time.

We got our chimney and fireplace inspected....we can't use it.  That will probably be next year's project.

I am in full swing of Mary Kay and trying to help others.  We have a few parties scheduled the next few weeks to benefit some of our friends and their trips and medical bills.  I'm so excited to be a part of Mary Kay and trying to make a difference.  One Woman Can.

We had an uneventful Halloween.  Rett wore his "First Halloween" onesie and hat and looked rather handsome in it and we went off to church.  It was a low key Halloween for the first year but next year, I can't wait!  Big Plans!!

No crafting has been done the last few weeks.  I did make a picture frame but it's lacking some things so I won't post pics until it done.

I guess that's all for now.  I look forward to this month.  I'm thankful for this month.  I'm excited for Kraig to have a whole week off :)  I'm thankful for the fall colors and leaves falling in my yard.  I'm excited for this month.  I'm excited to see what happens!

I'll keep ya posted :)

Taking advantage of this one

Thanks Cindy Cook for this awesome snag...

I am starting to get in the toy finding mode because Rett is starting to get curious and wanting to hold things and play!  Such a fun time :)  I love it...

So, I have been on the lookout for ABC's and numbers for the fridge and Cindy Cook came across this snag

You can get the numbers for just $1.90 and the letters for $2.98

I'm so excited about this deal.

But I'm more excited because I get them for free.  I use Swagbucks  It is an online search engine but you gain swagbuck when you search.  So, the more you use it, the more swagbucks you can earn.  I got it mainly because I got a kindle a few years ago and I'm a cheap skate and didn't want to buy books online all the time and since the Kindle is linked with amazon, I thought swagbucks would be a good idea.

So, here's how it works...once you gain enough swagbucks, you can purchase things.  I have only ever gotten amazon gift cards and I normally get books with the giftcard but I have gotten a Otterbox case for my Iphone.  Last week, I just got a regular case for my phone ~ time for a change, I guess.

But this week, with my swagbucks amazon giftcard, I will be purchasing these letters and numbers for Rett and his cousins Evie and Lydia!  I'm so excited because this is a great deal and I won't be spending a dime...just by searching the internet.

Thanks ~ Cindy Covey ~ you are always finding the great deals :)

Update...Birthdays, MaryKay and thrift finds

Thanks for all the birthday wishes yesterday!  It was a great day.  My grandmother came for a visit.  She brought beautiful flowers and some other nice gifts.  Kraig also got me wonderful flowers and box of Gobstoppers.  :)  He still knows the way to my heart ~ a box of Gobstoppers.  He also has set me up with a massage later.  :)  I am real excited about that.  And dinner this weekend, I think.  I don't know but I know he spoils me :)  I love him.  I'm so thankful for all the phone calls and messages yesterday.  It was a truly great day....thanks and this has been the best blessing/birthday gift ever :)

Here's my little guy just relaxing.

Rett getting to meet his new buddy, Truett.  Kelly and Julie welcomed their little bundle of joy last Friday evening.  They are going to be close buds, we can tell already.  :) I can't wait to get my hands on this little guy and snuggle him.

Rett has become the little talker.  He just talks my ear off most of the day.  If he isn't talking, he's kicking around and playing.  He's just days or maybe weeks from crawling.  He can scoot.  He has found his hands and likes to look at the them and investigate all things about them.  He also just recently found his feet.  He loves to pull on them and hold them.  It's fun to watch him grow and learn new things.  He also like to pull on my hair and never let go.  I could do without that game.  But he has the sweetest voice and smile.  I am smitten by him.  :)

I have started the Mary Kay journey.  I'm real nervous about it but I am super excited to get started.  So, let me know if you would like to host a party or do a catalog party.  I would love to share with you how I am going to work my business.  :)  The Lord is so good.

The next few things have been some nice snags that I have gotten while thrifting the past few days.

I needed something for Rett's toys downstairs.  I felt like this little basket would be a nice fit for our living room as well as holding all of the toys that he has accumulated.  I'm excited to put it in it's rightful place and let Rett get his toys from a safe area.

I also found this nice bowl.  I need somethings for our mantle over the fireplace.  I thought this might be nice.  I think I am going to paint it either orange or navy or I could just leave it like this.  What do you think?  I also plan on getting some old lightbulbs and covering them in twine for this bowl.  I'm excited to see how it turns out.

I needed something for our towels in our bathroom.  I found this gem today and I am so excited to roll up our towels and get them off the ground.  I was quite excited about this find.  And me being not crafty or even coming up with ideas for things, I was pretty proud of myself for coming up with this plan.  I can't wait to put it all together.

Our house is slowly coming together....I hope with our Mary Kay monies...I can redo our room and redo the spare room...because right now, it is just a jumbled mess.  I'm excited to put our house together.  :)

Just wanted to share some of the things we have been working on the past few days.

Well, I'm going to go play with my little talker...enjoy your afternoon!!

Your new Mary Kay representative

After much prayer and fighting with the Lord, I have decided to sell Mary Kay.

I hate sales, I hate confronting people to buy things, I am not comfortable with make - up so I don't wear it....

So, I decided to sell it.

At first, it was a way to stay busy during the 3 or 4 hour long naps that Rett takes during the day but the more I fought the Lord over it, He started to give me a new direction with it.

The Lord has blessed us in that I don't have to work and we are still able to pay our bills and even get ahead on paying off our school loans so although the extra income will be nice, it wasn't the main reason for me to get into it.

The main reason, I'm not good at filling up my day and I felt useless.  Kraig and the Lord (of course) constantly told me I haven't been useless - I mean, I get to take care of Rett all day...which is great however I can only clean the house so many times and I'm not an extremely crafty person so I just felt like I needed to contribute.  And after talking with a friend who recently joined the business, who is also staying at home these day, I just thought "Hey, we will pray about it"

So, we did and I asked many, many questions of others who are also in the business.  But the thought of me asking people to buy from me and hosting parties still terrified me.  I like people but I love being at home ~ I'm a homebody and I am not a social person by any means.  So, the Lord gave me a new idea with this business which I like a whole lot better and the thought of me asking for people to buy from me seemed less intimating....

So, I plan to start in the next week....So get ready and start looking for ways to help :)

I won't be asking you to host parties - however, if you want too - feel free to let me know :)

I will probably do more catalog parties and online things so be on the lookout because I am excited about this and excited to share what the Lord has prompted Kraig and me to do with this new opportunity.

I'll keep you posted...

I love the beach, crafts and MaryKay

Rett does not.

Actually, he loved the sand and had a blast exfoliating his feet but once we got near the water - he didn't want anything to do with that.  I'm sure it had to do with when Kraig put him near the water, a huge wave came in and got both of them...oopps!  But he didn't even like to put his feet in the water.  I sure hope that changes because I LOVE THE BEACH.

But never the less, it was a relaxing trip.  I was really nervous about the drive because Rett is not an easy passenger but he did really well and I was overall pleased with the ride.  He had fun jumping on the hotel bed, sitting in the sand and walking the boardwalk AND shopping of course....what's vacation without shopping :)

We got to see Grammy and Charlie while on this trip.  We were really excited to visit with them and introduce them to Rett.  It was a great trip.

Last weekend, we went on a family trip to the lake.  It was wonderful and even more relaxing!  The boys played golf and the girls (plus Rett) shopped!  It was great times and so fun to have all the family together.

This is Rett asleep on our shopping trip.  It tuckered him out looking at all the good deals.  :)

Rett and his Pa relaxing watching some football on Sunday afternoon :)
It was a good time.  I look forward to when we can go again.

Now, that we are back, it's time to decorate and organize our house.  AND CLEAN

I have been trying to teach the dogs to not get on the couches, I feel like they always stink and I always have Cash's dog hair to try to get off of them...I'm probably anal about that but I hate it...there is a reason I like hypoallergenic dogs - they don't shed!  I love Cash but I hate the I did a deep cleaning of the couches yesterday and now they are not allowed on them.  So, I found a pin on pinterest, of course, a dog bed that looked relatively easy. Kraig and I sat down last night and made them a new bed so they won't have to get on the couch.  I think they liked it...

Once I get new bed sheets - they won't be allowed on the bed either :)

Hank and Cash's new bed :)  I'm quite pleased with it.  I hope they are too.

I also made my prayer wall.  I have to find the perfect place for it and put on our requests but here it is....Thanks Anna Kempf for the inspired idea :)

I can't wait to put it in the right place and use it.  :)

Now, I am adding little tastes of fall around the house...I don't decorate, I don't like it and I don't like spending money on things that I can only use at certain times... I.E...just halloween stuff or just Christmas while we were at the lake, we found a Goodwill that had bought wholesale from Target :)

I got 2 pairs of shoes...but besides that - I found some pinecones and a brown bowl all for $17 so I thought "HEY, why not?"  So, now I have a Fall - ish piece for my coffee table.  I added the candle.

Last but not least....I think I may sell MaryKay.  I will decide by the end of the month.  If you would buy from me, let me know...I am trying to decide if I could do it...I'm not confident on the sales side of things but I like the idea of working at home and helping with the bills and the free makeup :)

Keep posted, I'll let you know what I decide and if I come up with anymore fall-ish ideas for our house...but next order of business...hanging the microwave.  O wait...the tree out of our yard that fell last spring...ugh who of them will get done...

Let's get crafty!!

First off ~ Rett had a great time at his first Lookouts game with the youth.  He watched the whole game and then once we left slept the whole way home.  We have had a great time getting to know our Lookout BC family and kids.  They are a ton of fun and have accepted us, we are so thankful for them in our lives and we are excited to see where the next few years take us.  We pray that the Lord will continue to grow our relationships with them and that these kids will fall more in love with the Lord than ever before.  We look forward to watching them grow in Christ.  Exciting times ahead!

I have plenty of projects to keep me busy the next few days/weeks.  None include working on the house but just decorating and adding spruce to it.  We have a tree that fell in the spring and still need to get that cleaned up.  We have to install our microwave and put in a breakfast bar...what else...I want to redo our bedroom and spare room so just lots of projects but I'm going to get crafty instead because I really can't do the other stuff.  Can you just imagine me out in the yard with a chain saw to that tree!  HA~ yea right!  I'll let the professionals do that.  But here are some of the projects I'm working on.

I made this yummy dinner last night (chicken spaghetti) - turned out pretty good.
You can find this recipe here  It was pretty good.  Even Kraig liked it.

I am finally working on and completely our Alaska memory book.  We have been back from Alaska for almost 3 years.  I started that today.  I hope to finish by the end of the week.  I'll show finished pictures when it is done.

I also want to make a prayer wall.  I saw the inspiration on Pinterest a few weeks ago but wasn't sure how to make it work but a friend of mine made her own spin-off of the prayer wall so I am stealing her idea.  It will be a neat way for Kraig and me to remember specific prayers that we have because it will be a constant visual.  I am excited about this project.

I also want an "organization" wall.  hahah Well, again...I see these pins on pinterest and want to try to do these things so I am going to attempt them.  I am not crafty.  I don't know how to do a lot of things when it comes to modge podge and such but since I'm home, I want to make stuff to pass the time until Rett starts moving around.  Well, my goal for our organization wall is to have a "mail center", maybe a weekly menu board, a couple pics of our family, and maybe a reminder board/calendar.  So, in the weeks to come, I hope to have that accomplished.  We will see.  It might all just end up a bust but I will try to make it work.

What's coming up in the next few weeks....hmmm we go to the beach next week with OCA.  Kraig has a work conference so Rett and I are tagging along.  We will go to the beach and relax while Kraig works.  I can't wait.  So, I will take lots of pics of Rett and his first beach trip.  I'm excited.

Kraig's bday is this week so I plan to make a cheesecake.  AHHHHH So, we shall see how that turns out.

Just stay tuned for beach pics and my organizational pics :)

What we do all day...

Rett and I have made it through the first full week of Kraig being at school.  It's been pretty uneventful. We have been on a really good schedule and Rett has slept through the night this week so that's a positive.  We don't do much during the day.  Just clean, laundry, all the housewife-y things, I guess.  I watch Rett a lot and we talk a lot.  And snuggle.  He's a great snuggler.  I find it hard to put him down sometimes because I don't want to loose this time with him.  I am excited to hear his first laugh though. Kraig and I play at night with him and try to get a laugh but still no luck, just lots of cooing and sweet sighs.  He's precious.  We still can't believe we have a kid sometimes.  It's still so surreal.  We love him so much and love to watch him grow.  Although, I wish he would stay little...

This week was also another first for me.  Kraig went off to work...I didn't.  The first time in a little over 10 years, I didn't go to work.  I would like to say that I was happy about not going but as I have had all week to watch my friends and Kraig go to work, it's been harder than I thought.  Don't get me wrong, I love being at home but it's just going to be an adjustment.  My new job is to stay at home and I have decided to not take it lightly.

My new job is to be home.  So, I need to fill my days.  This has been hard too.  I struggle with what to do and not being lazy or feeling lazy while others are off working and doing things.  I feel like I just sit at home all day staring at Rett.  :)  He's handsome by the way.  But he is starting to be awake for more hours during the day so we are starting to play, read and do some exercises.  It's been fun.  But I also want to be intentional about my days.  I have started cooking...I have many burns to vouch for that.  :(  Mom says I'll get better hahaha We will see, so far...I haven't made anything Kraig won't eat.  I can't figure out homemade chocolate chip cookies yet but good grief, I will master them.  4th times a charm, right?!  I'll try again next week.  I am attempting chocolate cobbler today.

Let's see what else...I exercise, clean and cook and make sure Rett is content all day.  Sounds fun :)  It is really...although I really struggled with not going to work this week, I have really enjoyed being home.  It's been a complete change of pace and but I think I will really like especially as Rett gets bigger and we can do more things.  I know I won't regret this decision and I am so thankful that the Lord has blessed us in order for me to stay home.  The few times I have left Rett for a few hours were a tad harder than I expected.  It was fine but I didn't like leaving knowing I might miss something, even something as simple as a smile.  I love his smiles.  They are so sweet.  :)

I have a lot of projects that need to get done and if I worked they for sure would never get now I have time to finish Rett's room, do crafty things, organize our home...and figure out this mommy thing.  I look forward to days ahead.  I am excited about this journey before us and I look forward to how things pan out.

I'll let you know how the cobbler turns out.  I made laundry detergent and fabric softener last week.  That was fun.  I have made a date jar for Kraig and me.  I made "52 reasons why I love you" cards for Kraig.  I have to paint Rett's changing table.  I have some other things to accomplish in the next weeks so I'll let you know how they go, maybe take pics for y'all.  :)

Hope you all have a great day at work.  I'm having fun with Rett :)

and now August is almost gone!

Shooo...where is the time going?  I am not doing well with keeping up with this like I had hoped.  Sorry, folks.

Well, for August...all our visitors left ~ sad day.  :(  We had a blast with Kraig's parents, brother and Bobby.  We showed them around Chattanooga and just had a great time visiting.  The especially loved spoiling Rett.  I know he misses them all already.

Kraig did the Chattanooga Mud Run which he says was a blast.  I look forward to hopefully participating in it next year with him.  They finished in about 40 minutes.  I was quite proud of them.

Rett has grown an inch and gained almost 2 pounds since birth.  He's a little chunky guy :)  He can no longer fit in his newborn clothes.  That is extremely sad.  But before long, he will be talking and crawling so I look forward to that.

Kraig started school.  He is teaching Bible and History this year and looks forward to it.  He is very busy already but doing well and having fun.

So, my new goals for staying at home...
I like lists, so I will lay them out for you.  As a stay at home mom, I plan on making our home a home and organizing our lives.  So, here goes!

~ I will plan out our menus and cook 4 nights a week
~ I will do a crafty project (Pinterest) once a week especially to help decorate our house
~ I want to get rid of something once a week and minimize our stuff
~ I want to teach our dogs some new tricks
~ I will work on some sensory activities with Rett
~ I want to start organizing our clothes, ironing and replacing things that are old or we no longer wear
~ I will go and visit our grandparents once a week.
~ I will start exercising and loose the rest of the baby weight.

Now, all of this is just a start and as the weeks keep going, I want to add to this list and be able to mark things off.

September holds new things for us too.  Rett gets shots.  Kraig's birthday.  Kraig is going hang gliding. We are planning for the holidays and trips up north.  We have started playing volleyball with the church.  We will see how that goes.  Should be interesting.

Well, hopefully next time...I will have something more interesting to post but this is just a little update for August.

Saturday, August 4, 2012

Well, July's gone...Oops

Here we are in August and I am way behind.  O well, I had a kid, I guess I'm allowed to be.
Isn't he cute?!  I just can't get enough of him.  We just sit and talk all day long and some of the night too.  But that's ok.  :)

Well, we moved into our new house and still have lots to do but it's coming along about as quick as we can do anything with a newborn.

We have had tons of visitors and have loved all the traffic.  So, does Rett :)  He loves meeting new people.

His grandparents from PA are in right now and his Uncle Kaleb is on his way so Rett is getting to meet a lot of the family.  Still missing 2 of his aunts.  :(  But hopefully, we can visit them in the fall.

Kraig starts school next week so it is just going to be Rett and me...I hope to start lots of projects and continue getting our house in order.  Who knows though, I kind of just like to talk and play with Rett.  He's more fun :)

Well, that is June in a nutshell.  We haven't done much except try to figure out parenthood.

Mom did go hang gliding and Rett got to be a part of that.  He slept through it all but he was there.  Sleepy boy!

It was a fun day.  :)  I'll try to keep you guys updated better through the next few weeks.  I hope to have some projects finished to show you.

Here's a favorite picture for you.  Have a great weekend.

I am that mom...

WELL....He's finally here!  :)

It was definitely long awaited and now that he's here...we aren't sure what we did before him.

The labor and delivery was long and probably the hardest and scariest thing I have ever done in my life.  But I made it and no expletives nor harsh words were said towards Kraig or anyone else for that matter.    Kraig and I made it through the 22 hours and now have a healthy, beautiful baby boy.  And NOW, we are THOSE parents.  You know who I am talking about...

We just sit and watch him.
 We talk about him.
I have already called the doctor asking about concerns I had.
We don't really leave him out of our sight.
We make sure he's breathing at all times.
We take tons of pictures and post them to facebook...yep, we do....don't judge.

I never thought I would turn into THAT mom, but I have.  I can't get enough of him...

I'm not sure about this whole motherhood thing yet.  I have in no way have it down...I mean, we are only a week in so I feel like I should have lots of room to grow.  I just know that right now, I am thankful for a healthy baby boy and the rest is trying to survive and get a shower when I can. :)

We also moved into our new house this weekend.  I am overwhelmed by the fact that I have to decorate it now and have it organized but the thing is, I used to be a pretty organized person.  Kraig once said he admired that about me.  However, I have slacked on my ability to keep things organized so I have to connect to that old organization skill and bring it back to life to get our house in ORDER because it is so NOT right now and I have no idea where to begin.  Good thing Kraig is off for another month and a half and I have don't have to work next year either ~ Right!?  O well, I will for sure keep you updated on how the organization goes because I have a few projects via Pinterest up my sleeve.  :) Pics to come.

And of course, pics of Rett to come too.  We did have newborn pics today so those will be shown to everyone who will look at him.  I mean, he's handsome so everyone should get to have there facebook feed taken up by him.  :)  Again, I have become that mom.

Sorry, folks.  I will though try to limit the pics to every few days and not every hour, how about that?
